This 1912 home in the historic Houston Heights was reworked by Jackson Warren and architect Paul Brow through a targeted renovation of the kitchen, primary bath, closet, and adjoining living spaces. Instead of expanding the footprint, the team reorganized the existing layout—converting a former bedroom into the kitchen and transforming the original kitchen into a sunroom and bar—prioritizing flow, function, and long-term livability.

The design is rooted in preservation. Custom windows, doors, and millwork were fabricated on site to reflect original proportions, while materials and detailing were informed by archival research into regional architecture. In the kitchen, the approach is both practical and intentional—designed for a serious home cook, with an emphasis on utility, quality, and authenticity over trend.

A considered alternative to the typical expansion, the project demonstrates how thoughtful planning and restraint can bring new life to a historic Houston home.
