West Coast Craftsman

Located in Solana Beach just north of San Diego, this traditional craftsman home was reimagined through a complete interior renovation and addition by Jackson Warren. Brought on at the time of purchase, the firm worked alongside architect Bokal & Sneed to reconfigure the layout—opening the main living areas, adding a bedroom and office, and reshaping the home to better support a young family.

While the architecture remains distinctly West Coast, the interiors take their cues from elsewhere. Inspired by the clients’ East Coast roots, the design introduces a more tailored, coastal New England sensibility—coffered ceilings, tongue-and-groove detailing, and a disciplined palette of crisp whites, blues, and ironwork. The outcome is a deliberate departure from the warmer, more relaxed tones typical of Southern California, favoring clarity, contrast, and a sharper sense of structure.

At the same time, the house is designed to live easily. Durable materials, flexible gathering spaces, and an emphasis on flow make it well-suited to daily family life, without losing its point of view. The finished home feels both place-specific and personal—a West Coast setting, reframed through an East Coast lens.

“Jackson Warren Interiors transformed a dark craftsman in Solana Beach into a light and bright haven for a young family from the East Coast.
