Perdido Key Beach House

On Perdido Key, this waterfront home, affectionately referred to by the clients as Cowboy, was reimagined by Jackson Warren as a relaxed, family-focused beach retreat. Purchased for its location, not its condition, the house required a full interior overhaul—addressing an awkward layout, dated finishes, and underlying construction issues while preserving its connection to the water.

The design focuses on clarity and livability. Sightlines were opened to prioritize views, the kitchen was reworked for function and scale, and materials were selected with durability in mind—slipcovered seating, hard-wearing rugs, and finishes that can handle sandy feet and constant use. A lighter palette and thoughtful detailing bring cohesion without losing a sense of informality.

At the same time, the house is designed to live easily. Durable materials, flexible gathering spaces, and an emphasis on flow make it well-suited to daily family life, without losing its point of view. The finished home feels both place-specific and personal—a West Coast setting, reframed through an East Coast lens.

Less about perfection, more about use—the house is designed to be lived in, not tiptoed around.
